Dunham Cellars has been part of the Walla Walla wine community since 1995, growing from a small family project into one of the region’s most trusted and recognizable wineries. Its home is a restored World War II airplane hangar near the Walla Walla Regional Airport—a space that reflects both the winery’s roots and its creative spirit. As Dunham approaches its 30th anniversary in 2025, the family behind the label continues to focus on quality, hospitality, and a genuine sense of place.

A Commitment to Craft

From the beginning, the Dunham family set out to make wines that honor the character of the Walla Walla and Columbia Valley appellations. The winery works with carefully selected vineyards—including its own estate sites, Kenny Hill and Lewis—to capture the distinct soils, elevations, and climates that define the region. The team favors thoughtful, minimal-intervention winemaking, allowing each vineyard’s natural personality to come through.

The Vineyards

Dunham Cellars farms two estate vineyards that anchor much of its production. Kenny Hill, planted in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, is known for its elevation, natural airflow, and intentional clonal selection. The Lewis Vineyard adds a complementary expression of the valley’s terrain. In addition to these sites, Dunham partners closely with growers across the Walla Walla and Columbia Valley AVAs, many of whom they’ve worked with for decades. Sustainability guides the farming approach, with an emphasis on healthy soils and long-term stewardship.

A Family Story

The Dunham family’s connection to wine began with founding winemaker Eric Dunham, whose curiosity and early passion eventually led him to roles at several notable Washington wineries. After releasing his first Cabernet Sauvignon to enthusiastic acclaim in the mid-1990s, Eric and his parents, Mike and Joanne, moved production into the old hangar that still serves as the winery’s home. Over time, David and Cheryll Blair joined the Dunhams, strengthening the family partnership and helping shape the welcoming atmosphere the winery is now known for.

Today

Nearly three decades later, Dunham Cellars remains dedicated to the values that started it all: respect for the land, careful craftsmanship, and a genuine connection with the people who enjoy their wines. The winery continues to grow with intention, investing in both vineyard innovation and the guest experience, ensuring that each vintage reflects the character of the valley and the family behind it.
