Light Bites & Paired Pours
Wine brings people together. This season we highlight three local vineyards and the wine-making couples behind the labels. Available daily, enjoy samples from Martinez & Martinez, Wautoma, and Bunnell Family Vineyards, paired perfectly with appetizers from our new fall menu. 1 1/2 oz. pour each of three varietals, and three paired appetizers, $40 per person.
Martinez & Martinez
2019 May Mae Rosé (100% Cabernet) – Horse Heaven Hills AVA.
This rosé has a nice voluptuous of Bing Cherry, Strawberry, & Rhubarb. The wine unfolds into layers of mixed fruit and cream with well-balanced acidity holding them together seamless.
Served with Pickled brassica with fried garbanzo beans tossed in ras el hanout.
Wautoma
El Prat – Cabernet Sauvignon/Malbec Blend
If people happen to recognize Wautoma Springs, it’s thanks to El Prat. Jessica and Tom like to refer to this wine as their “OG” wine. A unique blend for this part of the world – almost 50/50 Cab/Malbec blend (varies by vintage), a terrific table wine the highlights Jessica’s love for Malbec and Tom’s genius at growing Cabernet – all in the same bottle. “El Prat” means the prairie in Catalan. Jessica’s love of Spain (Catalonia in particular) and a fitting word for our part of the world resulted in a fun name for the OG red blend. When it was time to update the label, Jessica asked the artist to think weeds, seed pods and grasses that we find in our landscape here.
Served with Poached pear with crisped prosciutto and bruléed cambozola.
Bunnell Family Vineyards
2008 Petit Verdot – Northridge Vineyard Wahlulke Slope.
Seldom seen as a standalone varietal! Aromas of blueberry, five spice, and dark chocolte. Its bright acid is enhanced by flavors of raspberry, cola and clove. The wine presents firm tannins, with a touch of walnut meat.
Served with Sundried tomato lees jam crostini with shaved gruyere.
